On Saturday 4th January, the Community Gardening Group (six Timebankers and Hector) planted 250 trees and shrubs (provided free by the Trust for Conservation Volunteers) along the Western edge of Portobello Golf Course. Lynn and Ned (assisted by daughter Milla) had devised a cunning way of marking the locations so the trees would not disappear in the undergrowth and yet were not obvious. We had great help from a local resident who did as much work as anyone in planting and provided refreshments and access to water. We had offers of access to water supplies from four residents of Park Avenue so there will be greater awareness around there of what we do for the community. Slowly but surely our community outreach is growing!
